RomanCart is an excellent hosted shopping cart solution that allows you to sell products from anywhere on the web through one managed gateway. It offers an excellent range of features for managing your store and keeping track of orders and sales so marketing your products certainly won't be an issue. The only aspect that lets it down a little is the functionality around customizing the look of the checkout pages. It does take some knowledge of HTML and CSS to get things looking as you might want them to.

RomanCart boasts on its main page that it can turn any website into an online store in just 5 minutes and, putting it to the test, we found it to be almost true. Setup is extremely simple and we had a couple of products added in no time. From that point it's simply a case of generating the HTML code and pasting it into whatever website you want to sell from. Granted, this process isn't quite as slick as having a fully hosted online store, but it is far more flexible. The management console RomanCart provides is very easy to use and provides all the functionality you will need, but it isn't quite as glossy as the offerings from some other services.

Managing orders is a breeze through the RomanCart central administration console. It's very easy to keep track of how your store is doing from the main dashboard and respond to customer requests and queries. The system allows you to sell many different types of products, including accommodation and event tickets and a feature we particularly like is the ability to put a barcode on event tickets which can be scanned and used to keep track of who has turned up. Along with the ability to sell accommodation, this feature puts RomanCart ahead of many of its competitors in terms of innovative features.

Marketing and generating sales is at the centre of everything RomanCart does and so you can take every opportunity to make the most of each customer. Cross-selling and up-selling is fully configurable so that you can tempt customers with upgraded or extra products as they move through the checkout process. What's more you can follow up with customers who have previously purchased products from you and send out targeted newsletters. You might want to combine this with a voucher code offering a discount at your store too, which RomanCart can set up without any bother.

RomanCart is an excellent shopping cart solution and anyone looking to sell products from a range of different web sites would be wise to consider it. A demo is provided as part of the main website and a free version is available so you should try things out to see if you find it as easy to use as we did.
