BrightPearl is a young, modern and dynamic company offering multi-channel retail software that includes an ecommerce component. This fully web based system goes far beyond the capabilities of a normal ecommerce platform to include a full accounting, CRM and inventory system. These features may be beyond the requirements of a one man business, but if you are a small business looking to sell from a multitude of different channels then there are few products that we would recommend as highly as BrightPearl.

Essentially what BrightPearl does is to move your whole retail sales management system to the cloud. When you sign up for an account everything that you may have had installed on systems around your office can be forgotten and all the work done on these systems can now be done through a web browser. This means your business no longer needs to worry about upgrading systems or cleaning out viruses as everything is kept running in BrightPearl's cloud without you having to think about it. This completely simplifies the running of your business and frees up your time to plan strategy instead of worrying about the day to day running.

Despite being a relatively young company BrightPearl's software is very mature. As with any system there is the odd bug or two, but the cloud based nature means that the software is constantly updated without you being aware of it or having to think about it. The accounting and inventory systems are extremely powerful and let you easily synchronise data across all your sales channels so that if, for example, someone buys your last product of a certain line in store this can be instantly updated on the web. Customer's details are also managed in a similar way with the CRM system so that details of clients or customers can be called up from anywhere you need to sell.

Ecommerce capability is an added extra on top of the basic BrightPearl Retail package so it does cost a bit more, but we think it is worth it if you plan on taking advantage of the full range of services on offer. The ecommerce module can handle sales from a Magneto web store or eBay marketplace and integrates perfectly with a number of payment systems. Additionally, if you are based in the UK you can take advantage of BrightPearl's own webstore front end system. This isn't quite as fully featured as some dedicated solutions, but is a great starting point if you haven't sold online before.

BrightPearl provides an excellent service and we have heard nothing but good reports of it. It is quite expensive when compared with a standalone ecommerce solution, but when you consider all the extra back office functionality you are getting for the price, it is really quite reasonable. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a business management solution for a small business. However, if you just want to sell online as quickly and cheaply as possible it might be best to check out some of the services in our top ten.
